What is JCI Hull and East Yorkshire?

Hull Junior Chamber was formed in 1948 by members of the Hull Incorporated Chamber of Commerce with which we are pleased to retain good links. In 2004, in an historic move, Hull Junior Chamber merged with neighbours East Yorkshire Junior Chamber to form JCI Hull and East Yorkshire. We are affiliated to Junior Chamber International United Kingdom (JCI UK), and to Junior Chamber International (JCI), and are members of the Yorkshire regional group.

JCI UKs vision is:

" JCI UK is a dynamic, successful national organisation that is making a difference by developing leaders. We deliver innovative, exciting programmes enhancing citizenship, fellowship and self-development leading to sustainable success in your life, organisation and society."

What does this mean?

 

  • The skills of leadership are invaluable in business, in the community and especially in any kind of voluntary activity.
  • A socially responsible attitude to citizenship in an individual means to take an active role and to be prepared to actually improve the community in some way.
  • Fellowship in JCI is not just the circle of friends that JCI offers but is the common understanding of the "purpose" of the organisation and the sharing of that understanding on a global basis whilst working together to achieve some positive change.
  • Sustainable success means achieving what you want to achieve in all aspects of your life.
The opportunities available within JCI to bring about this sustainable success are numerous; it could take a lifetime to make the most of them all! There are grouped into Four Areas of Opportunity within the organisation: Training, Community, International and Business. Projects, training and tasks are conducted in each area. As members work on these they encounter opportunities for total development. The main idea is not to look for what the organisation can do for you but to see what you can do for yourself through the organisation.

International
As the local branch of a worldwide organisation, members of JCI HEY can learn and network with members in over 120 countries. International opportunities are concentrated in our membership of the European Multi Twin, together with attendance at National, European and World conferences.
