Individual / Personal Development
In an age where people move from job to job every few years, and where the concept of "lifelong learning" is central to continuing professional development, the JCI offers a range of "hands-on" training sessions and valuable experience in developing their business and social skills. Recent sessions, for example have enabled members to gain experience in management, public speaking, personal presentation and communication skills.
Our training is rarely dry, however. We believe in learning by doing, and in having fun at the same time. Sometimes you may find yourself getting outside your "comfort zone" - doing something which at the time stretches your own skills and courage to the limit. It may be that you find yourself presenting to dozens of people, or chairing a meeting to resolve a particularly contentions issue, or simply climbing a cliff face when you are scared of heights. And by doing these things, you gain recognition from your friends and peers. Many of the individual and team skills which we learn in this non-threatening atmosphere put us in good stead later in life, when the stakes are higher.
Members of JCI HEY also have access to a wealth of high quality training available throughout Britain and overseas. National and International conventions always include a range of professional training events run by world class companies such as Dale Carnegie and Franklin Covey International.
